Hi, sorry I couldn't find any other way to contact you other than through the comments section so this isn't about this post. Was just interested to know what you think of Lindsay's coming out in September on that radio show? I thought it was brilliant and her publicists denial afterwards was hilarious. Damage control much? Haha. I have found the coverage of Lindsay and Sam's relationship in the gay media to be very cynical and forced. Particularly by AfterEllen. When Lohan and Ronson came out physically as a couple back in May, AE titled their BLWE story about it : Being gay is great for your career! or something like that which completely ignored Lohan's achievement. Also, the Advocate headlined their ONLY story about Lohan 'Lohan is either lesbian, bi or just another straight girl engaged in a publicity stunt - but really what difference does it make?' Oh, of course because Katy Perry and the most out actress ever - no difference there *eye roll*. Sure, I know that the gay press wants 'good gay role models' blah blah blah but personally, I think it would make the gay press look GOOD if they embraced her. Did they really expect someone who, at one point was one of the biggest sex symbols of her generation and has a history of bearding, to say yes when asked in a magazine interview if she's a lesbian? I mean, honestly? How is she gonna explain the bearding? The general public has not been reminded of bearding since the tragic death of Rock Hudson 20 years ago and I'm sure Hollywood would love if it stayed that way. What's interesting is that when magazines were running stories earlier this year (one cover blatanly screamed on size 2000 font IS LINDSAY GAY?) Lindsay did not respond at all, she didn't seem to worry but I bet her PR people did. Also, perhaps this was just a crazy thought and doesn't make sense but it crossed my mind so here goes: Is it possible, that her PR team may have created - and fed into Lohan's image as a slut? Could it be that as is rumoured on message boards, Lohan came out as a lesbian at 16 to her mother, was told it was just a phase, was found in bed with her gf by her mother at 17 (who was then also her manager) and upon this discovery was shoved in the closet and bearded. I find it truly hard to believe that in the space of about 8 months last year SIX salacious sex stories were sold to the tabloids, all released just days after lesbian rumours were running rampant. In magazine interviews I have come across in dentist waiting rooms and tv interviews with Ellen, Jay Leno etc. the same thing happened every time. Because Lohan was 'linked' with so many men in the lead up to the interview - all the journalists/tv hosts can do is go through each one with her answering yes or no - rarely was she pressed any further then that. Could that have been a PR tactic? To link her with such a long list of men that journos don't have enough time to press her any further. At the end of the day, the job of a PR team and publicist is to protect her image and get her roles, no matter the effect on her mental state because that's not what they are paid for, if they think that milking her slut image is going to make lesbian rumours disappear they will do that and not think twice. A slut image is 'safer' than being known as gay. I can see it already - because Lohan was at one time such a sex symbol the thought of her being gay to men is an ego blow even if they don't necessarily have a crush on her - she's a hot femme woman. What a waste if she's gay in their eyes. I was suprised that Lohan didn't receive a good-on-ya GLAAD statement that's standard when celebs come out - Clay and Wanda got it why didn't Lindsay? Because she didn't come out as gay? I'm also disappointed that on AfterEllen, a post from a few days ago called Notes and Queeries which was about the importance of coming out had no mention of Lohan whatsoever, but praised Sykes to the high heavens. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Sykes and the coming out of a black woman is also very significant but Lohan is literally half Sykes' age and she has received very little support really - don't they think that maybe Lohan would perhaps need a little support too if not more? This is massive - she is potentially the most out lesbian actress ever (who, in the comeback stage of her career decided to come out) but unfortunately, she's going largely unnoticed.

Sorry it was so long,
Anna
